I had the BEST time photographing Josh and Victoria’s engagement session at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia! These two are getting married next year at the gorgeous Cloisters Castle in Maryland and I loved getting to capture this exciting season for them before their big day!

Josh and Victoria made the drive down to Richmond for their engagement session and Lewis Ginter was such a beautiful location for them. Between the gardens, gorgeous architecture, winding pathways and all of the pretty little spots throughout the property, we had so much variety for their engagement portraits.

Before their session, Josh and Victoria told me they wanted their photos to feel like a mix of “in love and fun,” and I think that describes these two perfectly! They describe their relationship as fun, witty and a little old-school laid-back—they’re just as happy walking around the yard looking at plants together as they are doing something exciting. I loved getting to capture that easygoing connection between them.

They also told me this was only their second time having professional photos taken and that they were a little nervous about knowing how to smile and pose. I hear this ALL the time, and I always tell my couples that they don't need to know what to do in front of the camera—that's my job! I’ll guide you through everything so you can relax, have fun together and end up with photographs that feel natural while still looking polished and beautiful.

It didn’t take long at all for Josh and Victoria to settle in. There was so much laughing throughout their session, along with those quieter, romantic moments that I absolutely love photographing. Their whole session felt relaxed, fun and completely like them.

Next year, Josh and Victoria will officially become husband and wife at Cloisters Castle in Lutherville, Maryland. What an incredible setting for the next chapter of their story!
