Maryn’s Senior Session at Midlothian Mines Park-Cosby High School Senior Photographer

There are some details that make a senior session especially personal, and Maryn brought one with her that I absolutely loved—a beautiful blue dress that belonged to her grandmother. Her grandmother had actually worn the dress to an inaugural ball, and now, years later, Maryn was wearing it for her senior portraits.

Maryn is a senior at Cosby High School and stays busy with choir, theater, and dance. She also works at Raising Cane’s, loves shopping at Goodwill, and is already thinking about what comes next after graduation. She hopes to study clinical psychology in college, and NYU would be a dream!

For her senior session, we headed to Midlothian Mines Park. With its beautiful greenery, trails, stonework, and open areas, it gave us so many different looks throughout the evening and was the perfect backdrop for Maryn.

She brought several outfits with her, which gave us even more variety. We moved around the park as the light changed, pairing each look with a different setting and creating a mix of relaxed, natural portraits and some that felt a little more dressed up.

And then there was that blue dress.

Knowing the story behind it made those photographs feel completely different. Her grandmother wore the same dress for an important moment in her own life, and now Maryn was wearing it during such a special season in hers. I love that these photographs now hold a little piece of both of their stories.

One of my favorite things about senior sessions is getting to know each senior and finding the little details that make their session feel personal to them. For Maryn, it was a combination of beautiful outfits, a meaningful family piece, and a location that gave us plenty of room to create photographs that felt natural and completely like her.

Now Maryn is heading into her senior year at Cosby and looking ahead to college and a possible future in clinical psychology. There are so many exciting things ahead for her, and I can’t wait to see where she ends up!
